Paul Belk nominated for a Headway Campaigner of the Year Award!
As regular readers of the Keiro blog will know Paul Belk, ex-client of Chase Park Neuro Centre has achieved a great deal since he suffered an anoxic brain injury in 2005.
Paul has now been shortlisted for the Headway Campaigner of the Year Award, after being nominated by Clare Tritton from Headway Gateshead and South Tyneside.
The nomination stems from Pauls role in establishing the Chase Park Festival. Paul played the festival this year with a group of his support workers.
Festival organiser Alistair McDonald said today: "I am absolutely delighted that Paul's achievements have been recognised by Headway in this way. From a personal perspecitve it's amazing to see how well Paul has done since leaving Chase Park Neuro Centre. Chase Park Festival has grown from not only providing opportunities for disabled people to enjoy attending a festival, without the issues of access or finance being a barrier, to now providing a platform for disabled musicians. As Chair of Headway Gateshead and South Tyneside I am also really pleased to see that our charity is providing much needed support to people affected by brain injury who are living in the community. I hope he has a great day out at the awards ceremony, well done Paul!"
